The range of Yamaha grand pianos include 12 models. There are 3 series within this range:
- G series, Standard baby grands
- C series, Conservatoire baby, boudoir and semi-concert grands
- S series, Hand-Crafted boudoir, semi-concert and concert grands
Yamaha G series standard baby grands:
Formerly budget baby grands, the GB1 4'11" and GC1 5'3" are much improved, now featuring the conservatoire frames from the equivalent models A1L and C1L. The frame is the backbone of the piano. Therefore, the rim is shaped around the frame, the soundboard is crowned and cut to the contour of the frame, the strings will be scaled identically to another model sharing the same frame, the bridge will be in the same position and of the same contour also. This upgrade has transformed these instruments into another class and they cannot be classified as 'budget' instruments anymore. The GB1 and GC1 are remarkably similar in tone to the A1L and C1L models.
